Blanca Marisol Lopez Chavez
Biographical Information
My name is Blanca Marisol Lopez Chavez, and I was born in San Ignacio Chalatenango on April 26, 1985. San Ignacio is a small town in the north of El Salvador located close to the border with Honduras. When at home, I live with my father, two younger sisters, and younger brother. Our home is located in a little community on the outskirts of San Ignacio called La Laguna.
University Life and Major
I attend the Universidad Francisco Gavidia in San Salvador. I am studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Accounting. I enjoy studying accounting because I am good with numbers and love to the challenge of the exercises. When available at the university, I play with a women’s soccer team and participate in a dancing group.
The Future
My plans for the future are: 1) graduate with my bachelor’s degree in 2010, 2) obtain a good job that is related to my studies, 3) have a family and travel with them to other parts of the world, and 4) purchase a home for my family. I also want to help my sisters and brother obtain their education.
Sonia Maribel Escobar Cartegena
Biographical Information
My name is Sonia Maribel Escobar Cartageña. I was born in Cantón Los Chanitos, in the town of San Fernando, Chalatenango. Because of the Civil War, however, my family moved to Caserío El Zarzal, Cantón El Gramal, Municipio La Palma, Chalatenango where my family now lives, close to the Honduran border. I have five sisters and three brothers. My father’s name is Serafín Escobar and he is a security superintendent. My mother’s name is Blanca Marina Cartageña and she cares for the house and family. On Saturday and Sunday, my mom also bakes quesadilla to sell to help with family finances.
University and Major
I study in the Universidad Nacional de El Salvador and am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations. I really like this major because I am learning so much about the cultures, economies, and societies of other countries. Most importantly, I enjoy studying the theory and practice of politics and how policy affects the relationship between different countries in the world.
I attend classes from 6:50 am a 11:10 am and then have soccer practice from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. I tried out for and made the University Women’s team last year and continue to play this year. Soccer is my favorite activity outside of the classroom.
The Future
First, in order to have a clear plan for my life, I need to have a good idea what my hopes for the future are. I understand that the future is not something that just exists, but that it is something that I will have to shape with my goals and objectives. As of now, my goals and objectives are:
